Ever look at those photos in the paper where the uber rich rub elbows with the super creative types, and wonder how you get into that set?

We get offers from time to time because we’re owners of this fine publication, but right now we can offer you the chance to join the dress circle.  Some of my beloved family occasionally tell me we live in a corner of the world where the real culture doesn’t reach.  OK, we’re not New York or London or Paris, but we do sporadically get to see important things.

This Thursday, 20 May, CinéfestOZ is proud to present for one special screening, Australia's most explosive true story 'Beneath Hill 60'. The movie, directed by Western Australian, Jeremy Sims (Last Train to Freo) was not scheduled to show in Busselton however the Directors of CinéfestOZ believed that the movie was of such importance that it must be shown in Busselton as part of a special review screening.  They’ve commandeered Ace Cinemas for Thursday evening, 6pm.

"Although it's a good four months before CinéfestOZ10 is scheduled to begin, it's a major Australian film which we believe our local audiences must have the opportunity to see", said Malinda Nixon, the Festival's Event Coordinator. "We'll be treating it as a special event with wine, finger food and the attendance of Clayton Jauncey, the Set Designer who will introduce the film. A 'Q and A' session is also planned. It will be much like one of our famous Opening Nights."

This extraordinary true story is set in 1916. The Great War in Europe has reached a stalemate. The two massive armies have fought themselves to a standstill. Millions of lives have already been lost. Mining engineer Oliver Woodward returns to Australia from Papua to join a secret Australian Tunnelling Company.

Ordinary miners from all over the country are given just two weeks military training before being sent to the Western Front. Their task is to undermine the German Lines. In the weeks before Woodward leaves for the war, the friendship that he has had with 16 year-old Marjorie Waddell turns to love and they vow to marry when he returns.

You can only get tickets for this one off screening in Busselton, complete with time to meet the set designer and ask questions, by booking on the web site here.  It’s a great opportunity, and while you’re there, look out for Jo from South West Life and say hello.
