Rita Winkler

rwinkler.jpgBecoming the culturally aware people that we all aspire to be takes a level of dedication, but it’s not generally very hard.

I’ve found a level of joy in the visual arts and what’s been great about that in the South West is that you can often find that the work you’re considering is done by someone that will happily talk about what it meant to them as they were making it. Even a philistine like this correspondent can get something from that, and it does broaden you.

Meanwhile, it’s easy enough to get involved in seeing what is around, and enjoying it, but do you feel like you’re getting to the point you want to DO something?

Bunbury Regional Art Galleries runs classes in a range of artistic media, and as a pointer, we thought we’d share this opportunity with you.

Growing up in a city renowned for watchmakers and jewellery makers and taught by some of the best in the world it is not surprising that Rita Winkler has become the regions most renowned and accomplished example of jewellery making.

Rita uses her jewellery to develop unique settings that bringing nature and its beauty together while telling a story within a wearable piece of work. Rita’s exceptional jewellery is available to purchase through her website and a number of retail outlets.

It has however also been acquired for more historical purposes by the City of Bunbury Collection, The Art Gallery of Western Australia Collection and the Crafts Council of the Northern Territory to ensure her work is celebrated in many years to come.
