Bunbury’s Youth Music Scene To Go Off With A Bang

Bunbury will go OFF when the Perth based “screamo” band, We Are the Emergency hit town for another BANDiT hardcore concert on 27 March. We Are the Emergency will be supported by local bands The Distance Between and Valentina.

Bunbury Cup - A Big Day Out

Thursday 11 March is Cup Day.  This is the main event on the South West Racing Calender and has been described as the South West’s biggest one-day party.

Brunswick Pool

If you don’t live near the beach, it’s nice to know there’s still somewhere to cool down in the heat of summer. Brunswick Junction residents have just such a place: the Brunswick Pool.

South West Games 2010

For a number of reasons, the 2010 South West Games promise to be the best ever. In 2010 the South West Games celebrate their 25th anniversary. This triennial sporting event will be held from Friday March 19th to Sunday March 28th inclusive with the opening ceremony in Bunbury, and games played all over the south west.

Karri Cup Mountain Bike Challenge 2010: Magnificent Again

Sunday 28th February 2010, saw the running (or maybe that should be riding) of the 13th annual Karri Cup Mountain Bike Challenge 2010.  Held over the Labour Day Long Weekend, over 450 competitors, along with their support crews, headed to the Northcliffe Township in the South West of Western Australia, to set up camp.

Geographe Bay Race Week Concludes - Results Here

The 2010 Geographe Bay Race Week was another fantastic event of racing action, with races held in the Geographe Bay, of Busselton, Western Australia.  Racing began on 20 February, right through to the final race on 26 February.

Grimwade Hut, Bibbulmun Track

I have always enjoyed bushwalking, especially in our South West. If you are familiar with bushwalking then you would have heard of the famous and feared “Bibbulmun Track”. Along the Bibbulmun track there are mysterious wooden huts approximately every 20 kilometres along the track. One of these huts I used was the one at "Grimwade".

Fernhook Falls & Rowell's Pool

Just within the boundary of the south west, around 20km north of Walpole, lies a great little recreation and camping area alongside one of the south west's most purest rivers.

Abseiling In Margaret River

Recently a class from the school I work at ventured down south (Margaret River area) to abseil, as a part of their Outdoor Education Studies. I was required to support as a staff member but not required to go down the cliffs - but ended up doing so, to my anguish, yet sheer delight!

Breweries Of The South West

At the risk of sounding un Australian, I’m not really a beer drinker. As it happens, there are one or two among my acquaintances though, and so there are times when a trip to a brewery is in order, and I’ve decided it’s another of the great moments that can be had around these parts
