Things to do in the south west of Western Australia
Thursday 11 March is Cup Day. This is the main event on the South West Racing Calender and has been described as the South West’s biggest one-day party.
For a number of reasons, the 2010 South West Games promise to be the best ever. In 2010 the South West Games celebrate their 25th anniversary. This triennial sporting event will be held from Friday March 19th to Sunday March 28th inclusive with the opening ceremony in Bunbury, and games played all over the south west.
Sunday 28th February 2010, saw the running (or maybe that should be riding) of the 13th annual Karri Cup Mountain Bike Challenge 2010. Held over the Labour Day Long Weekend, over 450 competitors, along with their support crews, headed to the Northcliffe Township in the South West of Western Australia, to set up camp.
The 2010 Geographe Bay Race Week was another fantastic event of racing action, with races held in the Geographe Bay, of Busselton, Western Australia. Racing began on 20 February, right through to the final race on 26 February.
I have always enjoyed bushwalking, especially in our South West. If you are familiar with bushwalking then you would have heard of the famous and feared “Bibbulmun Track”. Along the Bibbulmun track there are mysterious wooden huts approximately every 20 kilometres along the track. One of these huts I used was the one at "Grimwade".
