The 2010 Drug Aware Pro Margaret River surfing event, presented by Rusty, kicks off this week, with 6 days of surfing and entertainment to keep the crowds swelling. This is a 6 star WQS qualifying event for men and women and will be held at Surfers Point, in Margaret River from March 16 – 21.
Mick Fanning leads an awesome line up of surfers who will be coming to play in Margaret River as well as trying to take out the title. Joel Parkinson and local hero Taj Burrows are also due to attend.
Daniel Ross was the men’s winner of the 2009 Drug Aware Pro, while the ladies honours went to Melanie Redman-Carr. The two will have a big challenge ahead of them, in the hopes of defending their titles, with the fellow elite surfers and the unpredictable conditions sure to cause a few upsets throughout the tournament.
An exciting addition to the 2010 event will be the MASS Music Festival, held on Saturday afternoon the 20th, following the Women’s Final. Headlining the music showcase are Perth lads Gyroscope, with support acts Cog; Eddy Current Suppression Ring; Tame Impala; Philadelphia Grand Jury, MC Urthboy, Yacht Club DJs as well as local talent King George.
And the best thing about the 2010 Drug Aware Pro Margaret River surfing event, presented by Rusty, is that entry is free! That’s right, a world class surfing event and rocking entertainment, in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region and it won’t cost you a thing!
