Dave Roberts
Co founder of South West Life and long term part of the writing team, Dave has no background in journalism, but has always been ready to tell a story.
Years in a range of jobs where reports had to be written and a sense that the ‘net was just not presenting the region properly led to starting South West Life with very little idea of what we were doing, but a conviction there are just so many positive things to say about life here.
Dave’s fascination with the great stories and people he meets in the course of life hasn’t dulled and it’s still a joy for him to talk about this great place we live, then tell the story. If he could get the photography right everyone would be on a winner.
With a change to the publication and more writers coming on board, Dave is writing occasionally and applying his infectious positivity to the rest of the team so the standards and the tone stay high.

Graeme Olsen
Graeme Olsen moved to the south west from Perth in 2000.
He is a part owner of South West eCommerce and has been involved in website development and internet marketing for around 10 years. His job title would probably be best described as "sells stuff on the Internet".
But apart from his Internet Marketing business, Graeme loves living in the south west. Some of his favourite past-times include snorkelling, bushwalking, the beach, and most things outdoors.
Graeme lives in Bunbury with his wife and two teenage children.

Kristy Schmidt
Kristy Schmidt is a seven year veteran of the Australian wine industry. She will soon finish her Bachelor of Wine Marketing from the University of Adelaide, has umpteen contacts in the industry, including the South West, and just quietly, loves to write!
Kristy has worked across Australia in wine sales and marketing, for some of our biggest wine producers, to some of our smaller ones. She has travelled overseas to major wine shows in Europe and Asia, selling, tasting and promoting wine from our South West. Family intervenes in many careers at some point, and the world of employment's loss is our gain. Now, while caring for her children, and studying for her degree, she shares her time between the metropolitan area and the south west, and writes for a rather splendid internet-based magazine!
You can contact Kristy at wine@southwestlife.com.au.

Steven Crenfeldt
Steve Crenfeldt is a young man with the get up and go it takes to work his way around all sorts of places, and the vision to see the things he wants.
Most of Steve’s work history is in hospitality, making the South West a great place to stop, with people everywhere who could stand a little looking after. Willing to turn his hand to any job on the roster, he’s soon found a living in our patch.
Finding and loving Busselton, Steve has made commitments to the local sporting associations and got himself involved in triathlon and soccer at both player and committee level. He’s connected and informed and has a way with the keyboard. If you’ve got an event that could do with the coverage, get in touch with us and we’ll have him talk with you. A feature with South West Life could reach more competitors and more spectators - couldn’t hurt could it?
Steve has come to us with a background in writing for the love of it, and a passion to do more, but no employment history there. We’re ready to back his passion against someone else’s qualifications all day and reckon you’re in for a treat.

Jo Porter
Jo Porter’s first love is the world of Arts and culture, and she is passionate about literature. She can’t resist a good story and has a fascination for people – the more eccentric the better.
Jo brings an eclectic work history to the South West Life team. In the last few years she has worked as a journalist for the South Western Times; editor, journalist and photographer for Youth Express magazine; bookshop sales assistant; and support worker with the disabled. All these things add breadth to her writing and have formed a style which we think will fit right in.
In recent years Jo has been steadily working at Edith Cowan University, moving toward a BA in Creative Industries: Communications and Culture, while earning a living and single-handedly raising her son.
When she is not writing or reading, she enjoys live music, film, theatre, good wine, gourmet food and exploring the beaches, forests and rivers of the magnificent South West.
