2006 QUIT FOREST RALLY

Australia’s leading rally drivers Neal Bates, Simon Evans, Scott Pedder and Michael Guest are in Western Australia to compete in the 2006 QUIT Forest Rally. The rally, which marks round two of the NEC Computers ARC Super Series, will see our nation’s best battle it out in the State’s South West from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 May 2006.

The State Government through Tourism WA and EventsCorp has invested $30,000 in the 2006 QUIT Forest Rally, part of its total commitment of $90,000 to support the event over three years in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Starting at the Busselton Toyota Super Stage on the Busselton foreshore, the 2006 rally will roar through the forests near Nannup and return to the Busselton Toyota Super Stage on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, rally action will take place in the forests around Nannup; the town itself will be

transformed into a Service Park where technical magicians may have to work wonders, such as changing entire gear boxes in less than 20 minutes.

About 50 cars are expected, including top models by Toyota, Mitsubishi, Subaru and the long awaited return of Ford after a 20 year absence.

Younger crews will part of the rallying fraternity at a special one day rally, the Clubman Rally, held on Saturday 20 May.

“This year there is something for every rally enthusiast. With the NEC Computers ARC, the Western Australian Rally Championship, the Clubman Rally and the Tarmac Rally all happening together, there is something for competitors, spectators, corporate guests and our much valued officials,” said QUIT Forest Rally Clerk of Course Ross Tapper.

“The Super Stages will be run at Busselton on Friday and Saturday nights and at the Nannup Oval on Saturday afternoon. Spectators will also enjoy prime views of the Rally in the scenic Nannup region, including the Service Park in the main street of Nannup,” he said.

The whereabouts of impressive new spectator points along with all other spectator information is available from the Busselton and Nannup visitor centres.

In keeping with tradition, a spectacular fireworks display will entertain crowds at the Busselton Super Stage as part of the rally finale on Friday evening.

Other exciting entertainment will include extreme motocross bikers, a sideshow alley, delicious food and drinks stalls full of local produce, and a live band, the Stallions, who will play as the fireworks ignite.

Sponsors of the rally include QUIT WA, The West Australian newspaper, Busselton Toyota, Telstra Rally Australia, Geographe Bayview Resort, Hot FM, Shannons, Network 10, WIN, Budget, the Shire of Busselton, CAMS, Trade Hire, Easi Fleet Management, FineLine Print and Copy Service, the Shire of Nannup and the Pitstop Bookshop.

Tickets are just $10 per adult or $25 for a weekend pass to all spectator points. Children under 15 enter for free, Tickets are available from the Pit Stop Book Shop, 33 King Street Perth.
