Another excellent weekend of fun and fitness as the Half Ironman Triathlon brought the Busselton Festival of Triathlon to a close on Saturday 01 May 2010. 1358 individuals were scheduled to start the race, with 1292 crossing the finishing line after the 1.9 km Swim / 90 km Ride / 21.1 km Run.
The 2010 Bunbury Marathon will be held on Sunday 16th May 2010, proudly sponsored by Protector Alsafe. In its 29th year, this event has grown from strength to strength and now offers five categories for participants to choose from.
The Busselton Half Ironman Triathlon will be held on the town’s foreshore on Saturday 01 May 2010 with a capacity field of 1394 individuals that sold out within weeks of registrations opening. Busselton has been home to the Half Ironman since 2002 and boasts a race that offers a fantastically fast and flat course that brings professionals and age-groupers back year after year.
South West Football starts this weekend with the pre season cup. No one knows who will be playing finals football in September, but every team in each of the three divisions will be giving it their best shot at winning the title.
The South West Soccer Association 2010 season kicks off on Sunday 11 April, with what promises to be another thrilling season of action as clubs from around the region battle it out in various divisions, in a bid to reach the top of the ladder by season’s end.
The 2010 Drug Aware Pro Margaret River surfing event, presented by Rusty, kicks off this week, with 6 days of surfing and entertainment to keep the crowds swelling. This is a 6 star WQS qualifying event for men and women and will be held at Surfers Point, in Margaret River from March 16 – 21. Entry to everything is free.
Sunday 28th February 2010, saw the running (or maybe that should be riding) of the 13th annual Karri Cup Mountain Bike Challenge 2010. Held over the Labour Day Long Weekend, over 450 competitors, along with their support crews, headed to the Northcliffe Township in the South West of Western Australia, to set up camp.
The 2010 Geographe Bay Race Week was another fantastic event of racing action, with races held in the Geographe Bay, of Busselton, Western Australia. Racing began on 20 February, right through to the final race on 26 February.
The Be Active Busselton Jetty Swim 2010 held in conjunction with the National Heart Foundation was held on the weekend of Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th February 2010. Ongoing repair work being carried out on the Busselton Jetty prevented teams from participating in this year’s event, but a 1 km short course was added to the format for those not able to swim the 3.6 km around the Busselton Jetty.
