Grimwade Hut, Bibbulmun Track

I have always enjoyed bushwalking, especially in our South West. If you are familiar with bushwalking then you would have heard of the famous and feared “Bibbulmun Track”. Along the Bibbulmun track there are mysterious wooden huts approximately every 20 kilometres along the track. One of these huts I used was the one at "Grimwade".

Breweries Of The South West

At the risk of sounding un Australian, I’m not really a beer drinker. As it happens, there are one or two among my acquaintances though, and so there are times when a trip to a brewery is in order, and I’ve decided it’s another of the great moments that can be had around these parts

Within the adventurous Wellington District lies a great recreation site, named Potters Gorge. It is a popular picnic and camping area located on the shores of Wellington Dam.

Go Karting

Golf With A Frisbee

A while ago I found myself with four delightful children during the school holidays and wasn’t quite sure what to do with the weasels.

South West From The Air

Get a new perspective on the south west... from the air! There's so much to see and do in the south west, that I challenge anyone to say they've "seen it all". I reckon you'd have to live here 100 years to see everthing that's on offer.

Dive The Swan

Although the SWAN dive wreck is divable 10 months of the year, it's generally agreed that the best times are from November through to May, so make sure you plan a trip to this great artificial reef over the warmer months.

Eagles Heritage Raptor Wildlife Park

While in the Margaret River area recently we popped into the Eagles Heritage Raptor Wildlife Centre, and by fluke we had arrived 10 minutes before one of their daily flying demonstrations. When I saw the word Raptor on the sign I thought I was going into Jurassic Park and going to see dinosaur bones. Needless to say - I learnt a lot during that morning.

The Lena Dive Wreck

What do you after you've captured a pirate patogonian toothfish vessel? Blow it up and turn it into a dive wreck of course!

Agricultural Shows In The South West

Living in the south west I've come to love the local agricultural shows we have. Compared to Perth, they have such a community feel about them, and they are fantastic value for money. Were da Vinci alive today, I'm sure his choice of airborne vehicle would be a Microlight.

On A Wild Adventure

Armed with my camera, food, water, and a pair of good walking boots, I'm out in the middle of nowhere. And I'm looking for flowers. Pushing aside any niggling thoughts that this kind of activity is an assault on my stereotypical Aussie male sense of masculinity, I move onwards as I slowly become tuned in to the vast array of flora, fauna, clear streams and silence. And then I see them - south west wildflowers. Let me tell you folks, there are some amazing sites in our local forests, and they're all right on your doorstep.
