Augusta

augustalighthouse.jpgAugusta is the town that shines on WA’s most South Westerly Point at Cape Leeuwin. It is bordered by National Park, the Blackwood River and southern Ocean.  It has long been a favourite destination for families. The safe bays for swimming, good fishing and boating combined with picturesque scenery affords plenty of opportunity to enjoy a wonderful seaside holiday.

The beautiful Blackwood River can be viewed from the main street and is an easy walk to the town jetty.  A natural playground for fishermen and scenic cruises, the river has a strong connection with both locals and visitors alike.

Wildflowers and Whales are prized attractions of the region.  Whales visit Flinders Bay from June to September. Humpbacks are travelling north for the winter and the Southern rights are known to treat the bay as a nursery for their calves.  Wildflowers are prolific at this Southern end of the Cape Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge.  Cape to cape walkers enjoy a spring display when they end or start their journey on the famous 135km cape to cape walking track.

Augusta has been noted as the South West’s best kept secret and is well worth a visit.
